There was the trainride and the van ride. Old friends in new settings that were really their native settings. There was the bomb scare, and the concert. The lunch and the revelation. A visit to a building that hadn’t been there 15 years ago, and to one that’s been there for over 100. Reuniting participants in a one-sided crush. Watching behavioral loops ossify and tighten. Crying and singing and SINGING and sending music out in as many directions as possible.
We were going about 45 mph when I snapped this. Maybe you can see the time distortion through the lack of crispness in this image?
I’m kind of surprised there was any definition at all…
It’s not entirely looking a lot like Solstice…

Seriously. People grumble about weather in the 40s and this is happening down the block:
I should be grateful at least evening looks about right:
There were bees out today. I’m happy for them being able to get a last snack or two, but really. BEES?
Fine. Click through to some hysterical Torch Songs in which the word ‘Me’ has been replaced by “Bees”.

So there were five, and three immediately got homes when it came time for them to stop living under our back steps. The two gingers are being fostered, and I am sure they will be fine, because the amount of adorable they generated was quite impressive, and hand-tamed kittens are typically easier placements than adult cats. I’ll check with the rescue to find out how they fare.
In the meantime, though, here is our new kitty:

The object in this picture may well still be where we left it, but I suspect it is hidden under the snow. Still a fair bit of snow around here, although the number of little footprints through it keeps increasing.

Just because that’s the filter name; I was fully dressed and had just been outside for two hours, getting some weeding and bulb-planting done….
The day had been fairly grey, so I hadn’t expected much from the last rays of the sun. As the sky got progressively darker, I opted to go inside and thaw out my fingers by the fireplace. But shortly thereafter I noticed there was an interesting orange glow in the west, which reminded me strongly of the orange wash used in a painting from Word’s family. So I got up and went to the kitchen for a better look.
Then I grabbed the camera and went outside again!
